Electrical Engineering

Background Information

The Electrical and Electronics Department trains Engineering as well as Electronics Engineering teachers for TVET institutions, secondary schools and the private sector. The department also offers Higher Diploma courses in Electrical and Electronics  Engineering. Special programs, such as, Computer Maintenance and upgrading courses  are offered in the evenings and during the School holidays at certificate and diploma  level.The department has three equipped workshops.Electrical workshops,Electronics laboratory and Telecommunication Laboratory.

The projected focus of the department is to expand the training of Diploma and Higher Diploma teachers, in addition to offering Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech).

Objectives

  • To equip trainees with relevant technological skills, knowledge, attitudes and values to enable them serve as professional technical teachers and technologists.
  • To produce technical teachers and technologists to met market demand
  • To develop research skills in both technical teachers and technologists
  • To promote creativity and innovation in technology

Electronic Technician for Devices and Systems (E.T.D.S)

Course duration 1 year.

Mode of Study: Dual Vocational training is 2 weeks in a company and 1 week in college (K.S.T.V.E.T).

Joining requirement:

  • Diploma Craft certificates
  • D-Plain with D in Maths and Physics
  • Technicians working in Industry.

This course is offered in collaboration between German Chambers of Commerce and Industry AHK/IHK and K.S.T.V.E.T

Admission is ongoing and the fee is 68,500/= per year without accommodation.

  • Raise it at the Education and Training department level.

  • Send an email of the complaint through info@kstvet.ac.ke
  • Write a letter to KSTVET Complaints Committee using the address 44600-00100, Nairobi.
  • Fill in a complaint form and deposit it at the complaints box near the entrance to the administration block.
