On 22nd July, staff from all departments and directorates of the Kenya School of TVET (KSTVET) convened at the KSTVET Hotel for an engaging training session on Data Protection and Privacy, facilitated by the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC). The session ran from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The session was officially opened by Mr. Thomas Kitonyi, Deputy Principal for Planning, Administration, and Finance (DP PAF), on behalf of the CEO, Dr. Edwin Tarno. It was organized and coordinated by Mr. Francis Wambua, Head of the ODeL Department.
The interactive session, attended by over 100 participants, covered:
➡️ An introduction to the Data Protection Act, 2019
➡️ Roles and mandate of the ODPC
➡️ Collaborative discussions that produced proposals to strengthen KSTVET’s Data Protection Policy
The training was led by Tracy Adhiambo, a officer from ODPC, who shared practical insights that clarified privacy compliance and guided the institution toward alignment with Kenya’s data protection framework.
