The Building and Civil Engineering Department at the Kenya School of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (KSTVET) is dedicated to equipping trainees with practical and theoretical skills required in the construction and infrastructure sectors. The department delivers competency-based training aligned with industry needs and national development priorities.

  • Quantity Surveying
  • Land Surveying
  • Water Engineering
  • Road Construction
  • Architecture

In addition, the department offers Craft in Instructor Training (CIT) programmes, in:

  • Building Technology
  • Plumbing

Leadership

The department is headed by Jacinta Ngoiri, with  Deputy Head of Department being, Stafford Bwire.

Training Approach

The department integrates classroom instruction with practical training, workshops, and field-based learning. This ensures trainees develop hands-on competencies in construction techniques, surveying, design, and infrastructure development. Emphasis is also placed on modern technologies, safety standards, and sustainable engineering practices.
